guitar parts

  • Read, out loud, the descriptions of the parts that form an acoustic guitar and then try to find each part in the picture.
  1. Headstock: The top part of the guitar, holding the tuning pegs.
  2. Tuning Pegs (Tuners): Geared mechanisms used for tuning the strings.
  3. Nut: A small strip at the junction of the headstock and neck, with grooves to hold the strings.
  4. Neck: The long part extending from the headstock to the body, containing the fretboard.
  5. Fretboard (or Fingerboard): The flat surface on the neck with embedded frets, where you press the strings.
  6. Frets: Metal strips on the fretboard that divide it into fixed intervals for different notes.
  7. Truss Rod: A metal rod inside the neck for maintaining its shape. It’s adjustable for guitar setup.
  8. Body: The large hollow part that amplifies the sound produced by the strings.
  9. Sound Hole: The opening in the body that helps project the sound outward.
  10. Bridge: Located on the body, it anchors the strings and transfers their vibrations to the guitar.
  11. Saddle: Set into the bridge, it supports the strings at an appropriate height.
  12. Pickguard: A plate that protects the body from being scratched by picks.
  13. Strap Buttons: Points where a strap can be attached for playing the guitar while standing.
