Activities
What is an activity?
Read the scenarios and discuss whether you would do them.
- Scenario 1: the teacher plays a listening track and tells students to listen and pay attention
- Scenario 2: the students sing and dance the Hello Song
- Scenario 3: the teacher asks a student to read the text
- Scenario 4: the teacher asks the class a question to contextualize the topic of the lesson
What would you do differently in order to make the red scenarios an activity?
An activity is not what the teacher does, but what the students do.
- The teacher tells students to get in pairs and practice the dialogue.
- Students practice the dialogue in pairs while the teacher listens to them and take notes on their progress.
- After the activity, the teacher asks the students if they have any questions about the dialogue regarding pronunciation or meaning of the words.
